Is Grass-Fed Beef really better for you?

You've heard it a million times, heck you've even probably said it yourself a million times, "Eat Grass Fed Beef" or " I only eat grass fed meat" but does it even really matter and do you even know why or are you just following the herd?!? Let me break it down for you:
What is Grass-Fed Anyway?
Grass-Fed means cattle have only been fed their mother's milk and grass and other greens throughout their lives; and they've had access to pastures during the growing season. Make sure to look for labels that say 100% Grass Fed because meat labeled as "grass-fed" could potentially be from cattle that only spent a relatively short time eating grass. This is because there is no official USDA marketing standard for "grass-fed"

Why is grass-fed considered healthier?  
  • It is higher in antioxidants and vitamins.
  • Much Higher in CLA (immunity and anti-inflammatory benefits)
  • Way more Omega-3 Fatty Acids
  • Far Less likely to contain bacteria
  • Easier to digest
Also important to keep in mind that grass-fed isn't the same as organic. Organic specifies that the animals cannot be treated with hormones or antibiotics; and that they must be given access to the outdoors, and organic, vegetarian feed. However, that feed can include grains, which aren't part of a cow's natural diet. Your best option is to look for meats that are Organic and Grass-Fed

So whenever possible it is best to opt for 100% Grass-Fed Organic Meat!
