Starbucks & KETO what you need to know

You've done everything right, but for some reason, you've been KICKED OUT of Ketosis. Straight up evicted with no warning, so what gives?!? STARBUCKS could be your culprit! There are a few things that could go wrong at Starbucks, let me break it down for you:
  1. They Mess up... ALOT that 2 pumps of "Sugar Free" Vanilla syrup that you ordered could just as easily be the regular stuff. Even if they realize they messed up do you really think they would throw out your drink and start over?  NOT! The Heavy Whipping cream you asked for could easily end up as half and Half or even worse, WHOLE MILK. Loaded with sugar! #trustnobarista
  2. They got it RIGHT, but it's still wrong! Every Starbucks is different, they carry different products with different nutritional facts, so that Heavy Whipping cream you just ordered, could very well have sugar in it. 1g of Sugar per tablespoon to be exact, and have you ever seen them measure anything? They have a heavy hand when it comes to pouring. When you order heavy whipping cream in your drink expect them to use anywhere from 1/4c to 1/2c . That is 8-10 grams of Sugar (GASP) #Straightoutofketosis

So now what? Do you not go to Starbucks?
  • When you order coffee with HWC, tell them LIGHT on the HWC or 1-2 pumps of HWC so they don't use too much (You can tell if they used a lot based on the color of your coffee).
  • Even better, ask for it on the side! So that you can control and measure what you put in.
  • Make sure its all written down correctly on your cup (this is only half the battle though)
  • Try to watch them make your drink (Peek over the glass "Thats sugar free, right?")
  • if you are really nutty like me, ask to see the container of HWC and look at the stats
  • Carry your own creamer with you! Put some KETO BOMB in a ziploc and keep it in your purse
  • Get to know your Barista at the Starbucks you frequent the most. Make sure they really KNOW your drink otherwise as one of my clients said #trustnobarista LOL
  • ​Make your own KETO coffee at home and save yourself the Headache and the Ketosis eviction

Imagine if you are eating perfect KETO and have a Starbucks everyday with 10g of sugar in it?!? You will not be able to get into or stay in ketosis, your weight will stall and you will assume the Ketogenic diet is not for you and quit when all you had to do all along was to avoid starbucks or police your barista .. I have had several clients fall victim to this, don't let it be you!
